| | | The Customer The European space agency Astrium IS makes essential contributions to the development of Ariane space rockets, the most successful civil carrier-rocket program worldwide and hitherto largest space project: the international space station ISS. With an annual turnover of nearly 0.7 Billion Euro in 2001 and giving work to 3,000 employees, it belongs to the leading companies operating in this sector worldwide.
The Task Astrium SI was faced with the challenge to systematize, decentralize and re-structure its intranet communications which had increased remarkably during the previous years, and make them efficient and cost -improving by means of a uniform workflow. Additional tasks consisted in:
- Re-designing the intranet along with the implementation of the editing system
- Migration of the existing intranet into additor
- Continual technical and editorial support
- Programming specialized modules to support internal procedures
The Evaluation In a selection process lasting over several months (March-October 2002), 12 out of more than 200 CMS products were chosen, of which Astrium's computer scientists and employees tested three on location for one day, on the basis of a 3 pages requirements and several trial routines. additor turned out to be the winner by points and in the favor of the employees.
The Result
- Considerable improvement of current intranet costs
- Less work for the IT Department for intranet administration and support
- Systematic workflow / documentation of all working procedures
- Decentralization of creation and maintenance of web pages
The Customer’s Judgment "Using additor, we have made a number of valuable improvements in our intranet management:
- Current updating owing to a clear and simple publishing process
- Integration of many employees, because additor is easy to learn and the selected templates assure unambiguous rules. Automatic functions assist the employees in operating the software.
- Not least cost reduction, because laborious processing steps were abolished. In addition, we were able to reduce administration efforts for our intranet considerably by using additor."
